engage games workshops

engage games workshops

This workshop is suitable for anyone involved in dog sports who would like to build stronger focus, engagement, and teamwork with their dog.

While we will talk about examples from sports like flyball, the engagement games taught in this workshop can be incorporated into training for any dog sport, including agility, obedience, rally, nosework, disc, and more.

These games are particularly helpful for:

  • Young dogs starting their sport foundations

  • Dogs who struggle with distractions in busy training environments

  • Dogs who become over-aroused or lose focus

  • Handlers who want simple tools to build better connection with their dog

Because the games are pattern-based and easy to transfer to new environments, they can become a valuable part of your regular training routine no matter which sport you play.

What you will learn

In this workshop you’ll be introduced to 5–6 simple engagement games and learn how to use them as part of your dog sport training.

We will cover:

  • How engagement games help build focus and connection with your dog

  • Why predictable patterns help dogs feel more confident in busy environments

  • How to teach and play several easy engagement games

  • How to start incorporating these games into your regular dog sport training

  • Simple ways to use these games to help dogs think and stay connected around distractions

You’ll leave with practical games you can start using immediately, along with ideas for how to weave them into your training sessions no matter which dog sport you enjoy.
